Manufacturer warranties vs labor warranties

Roof projects often carry two different promises: the manufacturer’s material limited warranty and the contractor’s workmanship (labor) warranty. Reading both documents before work starts prevents confusion later.

Manufacturer material coverage
GAF, Owens Corning, and other manufacturers publish limited warranties for their products. Enhanced systems may require certified installers and specific accessory products. Always read the actual warranty for exclusions, transfer rules, and claim steps.
Ultra Power’s 35-year labor warranty claim
Ultra Power Construction states that completed workmanship is backed by a 35-year labor warranty. That claim is about labor/workmanship from the contractor, not an expansion of any manufacturer’s material warranty. Temporary tarps are not the same as a completed roof system.
Questions to ask before you sign
What exact documents will be issued at closeout? Who do you call first for a leak—manufacturer or contractor? What maintenance is required to keep coverage? Get answers in writing on the estimate.
