Older village roofs in Chatham Borough

This page is Chatham Borough’s older village roofs: dormers, short runs, and houses close to the sidewalk. Chatham Township’s larger lots are a different geography. Do not blend them into one “Chatham roof price.”

Short runs and dormers
Water has less distance to travel and more joints. Dormer aprons and cheek flashing are the leak list. A field of shingles can look acceptable while the dormer is open.
Sidewalks and setup
Debris and nails on a village sidewalk are the jobsite problem, closer to Glen Rock than to an estate drive. Write protection and magnet sweeps into the contract.
Keep the permit local
The borough construction office handles the permit. Morris County is not a shortcut. Ice-dam behavior on these roofs is covered in the Morris ice-dam article, not repeated here as a second science lesson.
