Skylights on custom North Jersey homes

Failed curbs
If the wood curb is soft, a new dome on that curb will leak again. The opening gets reframed and the flashing rebuilt with the roof courses. That is more than a glass swap.
Replacing the unit
Match the rough opening and the pitch. A unit that does not fit gets stuffed with filler, and filler is not flashing. If several old units are at the end of their seals, replace them in one tear-off rather than one leak at a time.
When you do not need this page
A sound modern curb on a Franklin Lakes or Saddle River house belongs on the Bergen skylight article. Do not pay for two explanations of the same flange.
